Livia and Alan’s wedding at Hazelnut House 1851 in Luxembourg was that kind of wedding.
They came from Brazil. Their guests came from Brazil, Sweden, and across the globe. They chose Luxembourg, the country they now call home, as the place to gather everyone they love and celebrate in a way that felt like them. Warm, joyful, generous, and completely alive.
From the moment Livia walked out of the house on her father’s arm, laughing before she had even reached the path, I knew this day was going to be something I would not forget.

There are venues that impress you. And then there are venues that make you feel something the moment you arrive. Hazelnut House 1851 is the second kind.
Set in the rolling Luxembourg countryside with views that stretch across valleys and forested hillsides, it is a property that belongs entirely to the landscape around it. Sheep graze in the fields below. A centuries-old church tower rises from the valley. The sky is enormous. And the whole place has a quality of stillness that makes guests slow down and actually be present.
This is not a venue you style into something else. It is a venue you work with, deeply and respectfully, until what you build feels like it has always been part of it.
For a couple like Livia and Alan, who brought Brazilian warmth and a genuine love of people to everything they planned, it was exactly right.
A Wedding Weekend Built Around People
This was never just a wedding day. It was a weekend designed around the joy of gathering people who love each other from every corner of the world.
The weekend opened with drinks and a welcome dinner, relaxed and easy, the kind of evening where guests who have just flown in from São Paulo and Stockholm find each other over food and start to feel like they have known each other for years. Then the wedding day. And finally a breakfast with close family and a handful of the people who had been there from the beginning.
I always say that the way a couple thinks about their guests tells you everything about who they are. Livia and Alan thought about every single person who had made the journey, and they built a weekend that made each of them feel the trip was absolutely worth it.

The Ceremony: Open Air, Open Hearts
The ceremony took place outside on the grounds of Hazelnut House, with white benches arranged on the lawn and the Luxembourg valley stretching out behind the altar. From above, it looked like a painting. From ground level, it felt like the most natural thing in the world.
Florals were designed by Claudia Leinen, whose organic, meadow-gathered arrangements brought exactly the right energy to an outdoor ceremony in the Luxembourg countryside. Calla lilies, alliums, cosmos, and delicate white blooms that felt as though they had simply grown there.
Livia arrived on her father’s arm, laughing. That is the image I keep coming back to. Not nervous. Not composed. Just completely, overwhelmingly happy. It set the tone for everything that followed.
The stationery throughout the day was designed by Ayro Samari, a close friend of the couple whose creative work gave every paper element a personal, artful quality that no stationery house could replicate.
The Dinner: Long Tables, Long Views, and a BBQ Pit in a Field
The reception dinner was one of the most beautiful things I have designed in Luxembourg. Long tables set on the open lawn, linen tablecloths, mismatched vintage wooden chairs, blue taper candles, and wildflower arrangements in bud vases, all of it looking out over a view that went on forever.
From above, the tables formed a gentle serpentine across the grass, with lounge areas scattered around them and the countryside of Luxembourg as the backdrop. It was relaxed and considered and completely unlike anything a fixed indoor venue could offer.
And then there was the BBQ pit. A full smoker set up in the field below the venue, smoke rising slowly into the Luxembourg sky. It was one of those details that made guests stop and stare and then immediately want to know what was cooking. Food was catered by Niessen Traiteur, and the cocktail experience was led by Your Bartender, whose personalized service brought a real sense of craft to the bar.
There was also a vintage Berkel meat slicer working tableside. These are the moments I live for as a planner. The ones that make guests feel like they are somewhere entirely original.
The Design: Brazilian Soul in a Luxembourg Setting
The color palette was blue and white, carried through every detail with a consistency that felt effortless but required real intention. Custom matchboxes reading “light my fire” and “burning love,” personalized coasters, and wedding favors that included jars of Moutarde de Luxembourg. A quietly perfect gift that said: we live here now, and we love it.
Livia’s gown was designed by Rodrigo Rosner, a close personal friend and one of Brazil’s most celebrated designers. A strapless ball gown with a sculptural silhouette and extraordinary attention to detail that moved with her through every moment of the day. The bow-detail bridal shoes were the finishing touch. Small, deliberate, completely fashion.
The dessert table featured the wedding cake alongside Brazilian sweets from Duo Cuisine Luxembourg. Brigadeiros, truffles, and traditional Brazilian confections that brought a piece of home to a celebration in the heart of Europe.

The Party: Brazilian Energy Meets Luxembourg Night
The evening moved inside and the energy shifted completely. DJ Du Ferreira was on the decks and the dance floor never emptied. Livia danced with her skirt held high, laughing with the same unrestrained joy she had brought to every moment of the day.
Your Bartender brought a Havana Club cocktail bar to the party, with bartenders shaking caipirinhas and pouring coupe glasses of something cold and irresistible. The kind of bar that makes guests stay later than they planned.
